Winter Storm Warning - Sunday 1/31 through Tuesday 2/2

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for New York City and its surrounding areas in effect from 7 p.m. this evening to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, February 2. 

Heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulation forecasts of 14 to 18 inches, wind gusts as high as 45 mph in the city and surrounding areas, and several rounds of widespread minor to moderate coastal flooding. Expect very difficult travel conditions that could impact the morning and evening commute tomorrow. Use mass transit when at all possible, and exercise extreme caution when traveling during the storm. Be sure to check the Columbia Transportation website for changes or delays to University shuttles, and refer to the Columbia Preparedness website for other impacts to University operations. 

Essential personnel are expected to report to work on Monday, consistent with University Policy. Please stay safe, exercise caution and allow extra travel time.  If you have a question about your “essential status,” please check with your supervisor.
