Winter Storm Update/in-person classes resume Tuesday, Feb. 2

The Grounds team has been clearing snow with campus pathways in good condition. In light of these improving conditions, in-person classes are being held Tuesday, February 2, as scheduled.

Essential personnel are expected to report to work, consistent with University Policy. Please stay safe, exercise caution and allow extra travel time. If you have a question about your “essential status,” please check with your supervisor.

Morningside/Manhattanville Campus Updates

  • The COVID-19 testing center at Lerner Hall will be open Tuesday, Feb. 2 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Medical Services at John Jay Hall will be open Tuesday, Feb. 2 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. with limited onsite staff. All other Columbia Health services will be offered virtually on Tuesday.
  • Libraries will be open Tuesday, Feb. 2 with limited locations as follows: Butler Library*, Avery Library, Diamond Law Library, the Augustus C. Long Health Sciences Library, and the C.V. Starr East Asian Library. All other libraries will be closed. For more information on hours and seat reservation requirements, please visit library.columbia.edu/about/news/alert.html. *Butler Library will be open as a study space with reduced hours from 9am-6pm, with book pick-up services open 12 to 5 p.m.
  • There are changes to the open hours for several Columbia Dining locations today.
  • Dodge Fitness Center anticipates a delayed opening on Tuesday, Feb. 2, with its hours of operation from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Lerner Hall will be open Tuesday, Feb. 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Closure of some gates and/or perimeter stairs may be in place as conditions require. Check the Columbia Preparedness website for real-time updates.

Columbia University Irving Medical Center Updates

  • The COVID-19 testing center at the Alumni Auditorium will be open Tuesday, Feb. 2 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • All ColumbiaDoctors Dentistry practices and College of Dental Medicine clinics will remain closed on Tuesday, Feb. 2. *NOTE: This is a change from the earlier update this evening.
  • 50 Haven Athletic Center will remain closed on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Visit the 50 Haven Athletic Center Website for additional operations updates.
  • Student Health on Haven will operate remotely on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Visit its website for additional schedule updates.
  • The Knowledge Center at the Augustus C. Long Health Sciences Library will be open for normal operations on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Visit the library’s website for the latest operational updates.
  • The Faculty Club Grab and Go Café anticipates normal operations on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Visit the Faculty Club website for the latest updates as conditions change.
  • Please visit the Medical Center Operations website for the latest updates at the CUIMC campus.

University Shuttle Updates

  • All three Intercampus shuttles and two Fort Lee/CUIMC shuttles are operating with residual delays expected due to road conditions. Expect residual delays and check the Passio Go! app for real-time bus locations.
  • Continue to check the Transportation website prior to traveling for additional updates.
  • The Public Safety Evening Shuttle (operated by Via) will be in operation beginning at its regular 4 p.m. start on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Expect delays due to poor side street conditions.
  • The Commuter Shuttle will not be operating on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
  • The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory campus is closed on Tuesday, Feb. 2. The Lamont Shuttle will not be operating.

The Emergency Management Operations Team is monitoring the situation and will keep you updated by email and/or text as well as via the Columbia Preparedness site, the University homepage, and the Medical Center Operations site should new information become available that impacts you or our campus. We also recommend checking your school’s website for any weather-related changes.
