The National Weather Service has upgraded its Winter Storm Watch to a Winter Storm Warning for New York City and its surrounding areas, in effect until Thursday, December 17 at 1 p.m.

The current forecast calls for heavy snow, with accumulation of 8 to 14 inches, strong winds, and dangerous travel conditions. Use mass transit when at all possible, and exercise extreme caution when traveling during the storm.

The following services have been impacted by the storm:

  • Columbia Transportation shuttle service has resumed on all lines (except the Lamont Shuttle). Check the Passio Go! app to stay up-to-date on current travel times. Further delays are possible due to poor road conditions. Learn more.
  • The Lamont Shuttle will not be operating on Thursday, 12/17 because the Lamont Campus is closed.
  • The Evening Shuttle (Via) Service will be suspended starting at 8:00 pm. on Wednesday and resume regular operations on Thursday, December 17 at 4:00 p.m.
  • JJ's Place is closed on Wednesday

Essential personnel are expected to report to work tomorrow, consistent with University Policy. Please stay safe, exercise caution and allow extra travel time. If you have a question about your “essential status,” please check with your supervisor.
