University and Public Transportation Update

UNIVERSITY SHUTTLES

• The Intercampus Shuttle resumed normal operations
• The GWB/Fort Lee Shuttle resumed normal operations
• Evening Shuttle service resumed normal operations
• The Lamont-Doherty Shuttle will have limited service
  • Departures from Morningside (normal pickup location in front of Teachers College) to Lamont campus at 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
  • Departures from Lamont to Morningside at 1:00 and 5:00 p.m.

Please remember to show your University ID Card on all campus shuttles

CARPOOLING & PARKING - updated 11/1, 1:00 p.m.

• The Office of Work/Life hosts an online bulletin board where members of the University community can form or join a carpool
• The City of New York has announced the following transportation details:
  • Most bridges and tunnels are open; however, cars traveling into Manhattan using the Henry Hudson, RFK Triborough, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queensboro and  Williamsburg bridges and the Lincoln Tunnel will be restricted to High Occupancy Vehicles - 3 or more people per vehicle - for Thursday and Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Midnight.
  • Alternate Side Parking (ASP) regulations are suspended on Thursday, November 1 and Friday, November. All parking meter regulations will be reinstated. All other parking regulations remain in effect. 

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION - updated 11/1, 1:00 p.m.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced mid-day Wednesday that mass transit was beginning to recover, and later in the afternoon the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) posted scheduling information on its website:

• Beginning Thursday morning, there will be limited subway service on several routes, supplemented by a bus shuttle between Downtown Brooklyn and Midtown, and will be fare-free Thursday and Friday. • Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad will begin to provide limited service on part of their respective networks and will be fare-free Thursday and Friday. To see planned timetables, download the PDFs at www.mta.info under "Long Island Rail Road" and "Metro-North Railroad."
• Limited-Stop and Express Bus service began operating as close to a normal weekday schedule as possible. As was the case yesterday, bus service continues to operate on a fare-free basis Thursday and Friday. 
• Access-A-Ride also began limited service yesterday, as well as accept reservations for travel afternoon Thursday.

Again, we know that transportation will remain a challenge for several days to come and want to reiterate that everyone who has been affected by the storm has our full support in attending to their needs on the home front in the days ahead.

Finally, please keep in mind that Monday, November 5 is an academic holiday at Morningside but a regular work day at CUMC and for Morningside administrators and staff. Tuesday, November 6 is Election Day and a University holiday.
