Severe Thunderstorm Watch – Monday, May 16

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for New York City and its surrounding areas, in effect until 8:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, May 16.

The NWS is currently forecasting damaging wind with wind gusts in excess of 58 miles per hour, large hail, heavy rainfall bringing localized flooding, and the possibility of isolated tornadoes. Expect hazardous conditions when traveling during these times and use caution.

In addition, be sure to check the Columbia Transportation website for changes or delays to University shuttles, and refer to the Columbia Preparedness website and the Medical Center Operations site should new information become available that impacts you or our campus.

The Emergency Management Operations Team is actively monitoring the situation and will keep the Columbia community informed should conditions change.
