The Emergency Management Operations Team (EMOT) is made up of senior leadership from across the University and its affiliated institutions, with representatives from Columbia's administrative, public safety, and academic operations.
During emergency situations involving the Columbia campus and local area, EMOT is the central team responsible for sharing information with the Columbia community, as well as determining and implementing a coordinated response strategy.
EMOT members meet regularly throughout the year to develop and practice emergency plans, including disaster response and evacuation through annually scheduled drills that test one or more emergency procedures. This multidisciplinary approach is an important part of the University’s emergency response and business continuity plans.
